HP ZBook Fury 17 G8 Review: A High-End Mobile Workstation for Demanding Tasks
Editor note: This article is an original English adaptation based on the Notebook-Center.ru review of the HP ZBook Fury 17 G8.
Overview
The HP ZBook Fury 17 G8 is a premium 17.3-inch mobile workstation aimed at engineers, 3D specialists, and other users with demanding professional software. In this configuration, it pairs an Intel Core i9-11900H with NVIDIA RTX A3000 graphics, 32 GB RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. The system is built for sustained heavy work rather than budget or casual use.

Design and Build
The chassis has a restrained dark-gray business style with black display bezels and a centered Z logo on the lid. The body uses metal materials (including magnesium and anodized aluminum), and the review describes the assembly quality as strong, with no noticeable flex or creaks. The hinges are firm and open up to 180 degrees. At 2.76 kg and 398 mm width, this is more of a desk workstation than a travel-first laptop.
Display and Multimedia
The 17.3-inch 4K IPS panel offers high detail, wide viewing angles, and a matte finish that helps reduce reflections. Brightness is reported up to 500 nits, which supports indoor and many brighter environments. The speakers are loud but not perfectly balanced in tone. The 720p webcam is usable for calls, but image quality is a weak point for a laptop in this price class.
Keyboard and Input
Input options are workstation-oriented: a full-size keyboard with numpad, a PointStick, and a touchpad with physical buttons. Key travel and feedback are described as comfortable for long typing sessions. There is also a fingerprint scanner for secure sign-in.
Performance, Ports, and Battery
Performance is the central strength. The Core i9-11900H (8 cores, 16 threads) and RTX A3000 are positioned for CAD, 3D, and other heavy software. The source also notes gaming capability at Full HD with high settings, though this machine is primarily a professional workstation. Connectivity is broad, including Thunderbolt, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, RJ-45, USB, and SD. The 94 Wh battery is reported to deliver up to about 7 hours of web browsing at reduced brightness, while heavy load can reduce runtime to around 60-90 minutes.
Verdict
The HP ZBook Fury 17 G8 is built for professionals who need high compute and graphics performance, workstation-class input and security features, and a sharp 4K panel. Its major compromises are the very high price and a basic 720p webcam. For specialized engineering and 3D workflows, it is a strong, practical option.
