Editor note: This English review is an original adaptation by Notebook Center based on the Notebook-Center.ru source material.
Overview
Apple refreshed the MacBook Air 13 in 2020 with updated internals and a keyboard change that many users asked for. This model keeps the Air concept: a light, compact laptop for everyday tasks, web work, documents, and media. In this configuration, the device uses an Intel Core i3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD, which is enough for typical office and study workflows.

Design and Build
The MacBook Air remains easy to carry at 1.29 kg with a slim body. The aluminum chassis feels rigid, with no obvious flex in the lid or keyboard area. The screen can be opened with one hand, and the finish helps grip in daily handling. Build quality is one of the model's strongest points.
Display, Audio, and Webcam
The 13.3-inch Retina display still offers sharp detail and strong color presentation for general creative and media use. Viewing angles are wide thanks to IPS technology. The glossy panel can reflect light outdoors, so bright environments may require careful positioning. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support provide clear, loud sound, while the 720p webcam is serviceable but not class-leading in image clarity.
Keyboard and Touchpad
A key update in this generation is the move to the Magic Keyboard with a scissor mechanism. Typing feels more reliable and comfortable than earlier butterfly implementations, with short but clear key feedback and white backlighting. The large Force Touch trackpad remains precise and responsive, which is helpful for navigation and gesture-based work in macOS.
Performance, Ports, and Battery
For everyday usage, the Core i3 model can run many browser tabs, documents, and communication apps smoothly. It is best suited to light and moderate workloads, not sustained heavy processing. Connectivity is minimal: two Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports on the left and a headphone jack on the right, so some users may need adapters. The 49.9 Wh battery can deliver around 8 hours in light multitasking or 1080p streaming scenarios from the source test notes. Under heavier load, the system can run hot and reduce clock speed to control temperature, which may limit peak performance consistency.
Verdict
The Apple MacBook Air 13 (2020) is a practical ultraportable for users who prioritize mobility, build quality, display sharpness, and a better typing experience than prior Air generations. Its main strength is balanced daily usability in a compact premium chassis. The main compromise is limited port selection and reduced sustained performance under heavy thermal load.
